Floor coverings. Which one to choose for the home?
There are different types of material from which the floor can be made. Each option has many pros and cons, which you need to be prepared for in advance. That is why the team of the Vitkovskaya design studio decided to help you understand this issue.
Let's start with the basics. When you think about flooring in your home, you need to understand what your budget is. Do not forget that a high-quality coating that will last more than one year cannot be cheap. We believe quality comes first. The second question to ask yourself is practicality. flooring... How long will it last? Is it strong and reliable enough? Also, it is worth mentioning the convenience of cleaning. Are there certain points to consider when cleaning with different products?
And of course! Last but not least is aesthetics. Indeed, sometimes the floor can completely change the appearance of an apartment. We will also talk about this today.
Let's start with one of the most common coatings - ceramic tiles. In addition to the obvious options (kitchen and bathroom), it can be used throughout the apartment. This has many advantages! Firstly, you do not need to worry if the tiles have been smeared with something in everyday conditions. Everything is easily washed without any trace. Secondly, this type of flooring allows you to make a warm floor throughout the apartment, because it is resistant to moisture and heat. Do not forget about its advantages from the point of view of aesthetics. Glossy, matte, with a certain pattern - the choice is huge.
The next option, a light coating, is a laminate. Most people choose it, because it is quite durable and easy to use. If we talk about the material from which it is made, then it is based on fiberboard. Paint or a certain pattern is applied to this slab - marble or imitation wood. It is quite budgetary, but at the same time, if used correctly, it can last a long time.
Natural parquet has always been one of the most expensive coatings. And not in vain, because parquet has many advantages. For example, you can create different types of patterns to your liking. Also, it is made entirely of wood, so it is the most environmentally friendly type of flooring. There is one drawback - because of the size, it takes more time to lay the parquet, because it is much smaller than all other coatings.
If you want to use just natural wood, then a parquet board will be an excellent option. It is larger, but made of the same expensive types of wood. But even in such a non-budget option for flooring, there are disadvantages. It does not tolerate moisture and excessive heat, so it is used only in "dry" rooms where there is no access to water.
Let's talk about the softest surface - carpet. They are very fond of using it in children's rooms, because it is much more convenient for a child to play and run. You don't have to be afraid that the baby will fall. But it also looks very stylish in bedrooms. Unfortunately, there is a big disadvantage - the difficulty in cleaning the carpet. It gets dirty quickly, and if any liquid has been spilled on it, it dries for a long time. In this sense, it is worth considering whether this type of flooring is suitable for your apartment.
Self-leveling floor. Sounds unusual, right? Its essence is that it can be made in any room, it is resistant to moisture and heat. Also, there are no "joints" on it, as, for example, when laying ceramic tiles. Self-leveling floors can be of different types: methyl methacrylate, epoxy, cement-acrylic and polyurethane. It is important to say that the disadvantage is the complexity of the filling and its price, but in the first place you have aesthetics and strength - this is ideal flooring in the apartment.
In this article, we have collected different types of flooring and talked about all the pitfalls of each option. Our team is confident that now, it will be much easier for you to choose the perfect floor for your future apartment!
